My trip to Seattle was absolutely amazing. It was so good to see Kemba! I'd missed him so much!
The city was pretty cool. I thought that it would have a bigger shopping scene than it ended up having, but that's ok. I need to save money anyway. haha.
However there were some gems.
Totokaelo was a great boutique with a great selection. A really nice shoe selection with some larger sizes like 40's and 41's which is nice to see.

But the place I really want to touch on is Betty Lin (check out shopbettylin.com).

This boutique was on my list of places to go, but when the time came to check it out I wasn't feeling very well and almost just skipped it.
Boy am I glad I didn't!!
When I walked in I was greeted immediately by a VERY nice sales associate named Nanette. She informed me of the sale they were having and helped me with whatever I needed.
The store's selection was amazing! They had racks and racks of end of season pieces for a fraction of the price. Even the non-sale items were significantly marked down.
A Risto Bimbiloski night sky print caftan caught my eye immediately. I had been looking for something in his galaxy prints for awhile now online to no avail.
Nanette was very helpful in helping me get settled in a fitting room and even picking out a belt and pair of shoes to try on with it to get the "full effect".
I ended up getting it for a shockingly low price of $300.00! Umm... regular price was $750. That's almost $500 that I saved!
I was ecstatic!
It was so refreshing to visit a boutique where you are treated so warmly instead of getting hit with cold stares and a half hearted nod when walking through the door.
I will DEFINITELY be going back if I am ever in Seattle again.

Another highlight was getting to meet the amazing Adam Sinding from Le 21eme Arrondissement. We met at Stumptown Coffee and had a very pleasant chat. It was such an honor to not only meet him but to get photographed by him. You can see our photo on his blog (it's on our Idol list to the right).

So I had seen this website maybe 3 years ago and had totally forgot about it.

A few weeks ago I vaguely recalled reading something about a website where you could purchase a pattern, print it out on your own printer, and make it out of your own material.

But.... alas..... I couldn't remember the name... and thus, couldn't find it.

UNTIL NOW!!

I recently stumbled upon SANS again!

It is such an interesting concept. The designer explains her vision in this video:

I really think that more designers should consider doing this type of thing.

It could become a whole new aspect of the fashion industry.

Now.... this is not your typical 2nd grade attempt to make a paper crane..... only ending up in a frustrated you and a crumpled up crane thrown on the floor.

Susy Oliveira creates some SERIOUS masterpieces.

These gawk worthy sculptures are made of color photographic prints (c-prints) that are then wrapped onto foam core.

Model Daul Kim was found dead in Paris in an apparent suicide. Daul Kim's agents have confirmed her death but thus far no official cause of death has been disclosed. However, a source tells New York Magazine that they believe that Daul Kim committed suicide.

Daul Kim's death comes at a time when it appeared that the 20-year-old model's career was going better than ever. The Korean model made her runway debut back in fall 2007. Sincce then, Daul Kim appeared in several international editions of Vogue and recently appeared in a commercial for Christopher Kane’s Topshop line."

I've been planning on posting this for a couple weeks.Don't know what slowed me down.If you have flipped through POP you have probably gotten word of Prada Transformer by OMA/Rem Koolhas. The shape shifting cultural pavilion,wich cost around $10,000,000,made its first appearance in Seoul, Korea in April 2009. It takes the form of a tetrahedron with one hexagonal face, one cross-shaped face, one rectangular face and one circular face.It can host many different events(exhibitions, fashion shows, film screenings) by using cranes and such to flip the pavilion so that each shape faces the ground. The idea of a pavilion that can have four seperate identities, making each visit to a programme totally different from the others, is so mind-boggling and even sublime.

Athough the film screenings and exhibitions show some amazing things by AMAZING artists, it is the fashion segment that intrigues me the most(obviously). It has a show displaying Prada skirts from the very first collection up to today in "motion". Just watch this video and you'd understand. It was taped by a Korean fashion student and is really short but it's still amazing.

Last year I started growing my hair out. It was a chin length bob last summer and now it's a little bit past my shoulders.....(not nearly as long as I would like).

After a whole year of having the same hairstyle (straight blunt cut with a fringe), I'm a bit tired..... to say the least.

I feel like I need to have a signature hairstyle. Anna Wintour has her cropped bob........ Rei Kawakubo has her .......cropped bob. (I'm seeing a pattern)....Alexander Wang has his "I just woke up so my hair is adorably tousled" look...... etc. etc. These hairstyles are part of their identity.

I like that.

It's like your own signature cherry on top of your outfit.

So, I've been experimenting....... And I must say, that I like the idea of a VERY BIG VERY HIGH BUN. I think I'll try it out for awhile. See if it suits me.

I cannot empahasize how much I love Nick Knight. He is a pure genius when it comes to making beautiful art. Repeat: art not fashion. Sure he captures images using models and the latest clothing designs and his work is in fashion magazines. However, Nick Knight does so much more than that. He bridges the gap between art and fashion. When I look at Mr. Knight's photography or view one of his movies, the clothes take the backseat. I feel as if I have been transported to a different world. A world free of inhibition where anything is accepted but nothing is expected. I just love Nick Knight so much. These photos are literally blowing my mind. They star an unrecognizable Carmen Kass( LOVE!) as a downright evil clown and are for Another magazine. Soooo beautiful. I know this will haunt my dreams and stay on my mind for days and I'm totally fine with that.hehe

I think that a blazer is one of the most personal items of clothing that you can buy.

The cut, the fit, the color has to be right. It has to look structured but effortless, and of course.. comfortable.

Well...... if it's a KILLER blazer, the latter might be negotiable.

My point? A blazer can reflect your personality. So finding that perfect LBB (Little black blazer) can be harder than......well finding the perfect LBD.

Recently I've started getting back into thrifting. It used to be that I couldn't stand it.

But it's starting to grow on me. If I stick to the blazer section, that is.......... home-made crop tops, 90's pastel pant suits and sequined wedding dresses piss me off....

I tend to lean towards the men's section because that's where you can find the best stuff.

Besides, I like masculine cuts. They seem to "suit" me better. (HAHAHAHA pun)

Oh how I love you blazer.....let me count the ways....

I really love getting out of school early everday. Gives me more time for power naps, movie viewing, and checking out new designers. Just discovered Tina Kalivas about 30 minutes ago on the blog July Stars. I had to see more so i went to her website and after playing with the colors and lines on her page for 10 minutes(it's really fun and hypnotic hehe) I looked at every piece of clothing displayed. The mixture of fun and geometry really makes her line interesting. It also doesnt hurt that every piece has fantastic finish. Usually I hate how any designer not from Africa uses kente in their clothing but she does it so well. Inspiration is all over the place; from Africa to India then way into outerspace.

I am absolutely in LOVE with Tramando's spring collection.

It was inspired by Africa (obviously).

But seriously, I am DYING over the pants.

Perfectly cut.

The colors are amazing as well. I love the combination of grays and blacks with bright but at the same time subdued shades.

The digital prints are awesome as well. They look slightly faded.... but in a good way. Like that band t-shirt you inherited from your dad that you've worn over and over and just keeps getting better.

Monocle has partnered up with the world's oldest fine leather goods company, Delvaux to create this GORGEOUS newspaper bag. It's so beautiful. I would feel all grown up if I had this bag. I would look really dumb walking into a Wall Street board meeting but I'd feel reall really good. ;)

Longchamp is celebrating the 20th anniversary of ANDAM with new collection of totes from Jeremy Scott, the designers of Bless, and Charles Anastase.

I love the "Donut Bag" (I'm coining that....).

The idea that you can carry around a bag on your wrist as a bangle, intrigues me.

This is the fashionable way to "go green" by bringing your own grocery shopping bags.

And who doesn't want a bag that can fold up into a DONUT BANGLE?!
